BBS FORUM
All of your callers have different interests, but perhaps only small groups of
them have COMMON interests. It's difficult for a SYSOP to justify setting up an
entire message base for a handful of people, and a lot of work too!
Enter BBS Forum! Set it up as a "door" on your BBS and your callers can
set up and operate their own message bases! The message bases can be
"Open" for any callers to access or "PassWord Protected". The protection can
be enforce as "PassWord To Join" or "Password Each Entry".
Setting it up is extra-easy for WildCat! SYSOPs, and fairly simple for all
the rest. There is a sample configuration file enclosed with this archive
called FORUM.CFG. Edit it to match the configuration of your BBS.
THE HIGH PINNACLE
TODD
CARLTON
C:\WILDCAT\FORUM\CALLINFO.BBS
NO
0000000000
Line One is the name of your BBS
Line Two is your first name
Line Three is your last name
Line Four is the path to CALLINFO.BBS (WildCat V1.x version)
Line Five is for Locked Com Ports. If you are not running a locked COM PORT,
it should read "NO" If you ARE running a BBS with locked COM PORT, you
should set this line to the baud rate you're locked at, such as "9600"
Line Six is the registration code--if you haven't registered yet (for only
$10 U.S.) just leave 10 zeros on this line
If you are not running a Wildcat BBS, DOORMASTER is an EXCELLENT door utility
to convert from your BBS type to a WildCat V1.x type.
A sample batch file using doormaster might look like this:
C:
CD\SUPERBBS
DM 1 WC C:\SBBS\ C:\SBBS\FORUM\
CD FORUM
FORUM
CD..
EXIT
WildCat SYSOPs simply need to change to the directory and run FORUM.EXE
C:
CD\WILDCAT\FORUM
FORUM
CD..
EXIT
If you want to run FORUM in Local mode you may run it as:
FORUM LOCAL or FORUM /L or FORUM -L
Legal Stuff:
The coding for BBS Forum is all my own. All I guarentee the program to do is
sit there and take up space. The source code is original and is not available
for sale or license. The compiled version (which requires BRUN45.EXE to
operate) is available to SYSOPs as a courtesy in an unmodified state.
SYSOPs running BBS Forum as Unregistered have the right to operate up to
10 forums with up to 15 people per forum. Those SYSOPs who chose to
register the software may use it to operate up to 100 forums with up to
100 people per forum. This registration is not a sale of the software;
it's permission to operate it on a private machine. The code, source AND
compiled, remains copyrighted by me.
To register the software, first TRY IT OUT and make sure it's what you and
your callers want/like. All software is offered "as is" and I make absolutely
*NO* promises that it's bug free, or even suitable for it's stated purpose.
If you DO decide to use it, you may run it for as long as you like as
UNREGISTERED. (None of this 30 day B.S. other authors pull!) To register
it and get the code needed to unlock the rest of the forums and User Slots,
send $10 along with a print-out of the enclosed FORUM.REG to:
Todd Carlton
41 Radley Street
Battle creek, MI 49017
If you unlawfully run it as registered, by using somebody else's reg. code,
or by altering the code, you're LIABLE. This means you need a good lawyer
and hundreds for dollars for staling a $10 program.
Enjoy BBS Forum, talk to your callers after you put it online and see what
they think about it. <They'll LOVE IT!> Then try out some of my other doors!
DoorTrak, Rockin' Success, Street Wise, and soon Online Mille Borne!
